Me, You, and a Dog named Boo

Scott driving us along the country roads
Northern California

Last night, I was talking to my sister on the phone and she said "Me and You".

Listening to her words, I remembered one of Scott's favorite songs when he was a little kid growing up in the seventies. "Me, You, and a Dog named Boo". He played it for me when we first met.  Both of us felt fortunate to be raised in the seventies where times seemed so much simpler.

I looked up the lyrics to the song. The words remind me of the life Scott and I wanted to live, we always wanted to go back to the "seventies" and live a life free of the demands and distractions of today. I believe we did in a way go back to the seventies for the three years we were together. Most of our time was spent walking and sitting in nature, packing our lunches, listening to music, staying off social media and television most of the time, and limiting as much distraction as possible so we could feel and experience the simple things in life. Music, good food, friends, family, nature, walks on the beach, and endless back roads.

Lyrics to Me, You and a Dog named Boo
Song by Lobo

I remember to this day
The bright red Georgia clay
And how it stuck to the tires
After the summer rain
Will power made that old car go
A woman's mind told me that so
Oh how I wish
We were back on the road again
Me and you and a dog named boo
Travellin' and livin' off the land
Me and you and a dog named boo
How I love being a free man
Now I can still recall
The wheat fields of St. Paul
And the morning we got caught
Robbing from an old hen
Old McDonald, he made us work
But then he paid us for what it was worth
Another tank of gas and
Back on the road again
Me and you and a dog named boo
Travellin' and livin' off the land
Me and you and a dog named boo
How I love being a free man
Now I'll never forget the day
We motored stately into big L.A.
The lights of the city put settlin' down in my brain
Though it's only been a month or so
That old car's buggin' us to go
We've gotta get away and get back on the road again
Me and you and a dog named boo
Travellin' and livin' off the land
Me and you and a dog named boo
How I love being a free man
Me and you and a dog named boo
Travellin' and livin' off the land
Me and you and a dog named boo
How I love being a free man
Me and you and a dog named boo
Travellin' and livin' off the land
Me and you and a dog named boo ...
